Where this all started

We are deeply committed to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and have been for many years. We are equally dedicated to upholding human rights.

In the UK, recent misinformation and disinformation about diverse (transgender, intersex, nonbinary and gender queer) people has created widespread confusion and with potentially far-reaching and harmful consequences.

So we created Transpilot, a community service that champions Inclusivity.

Whether you are working, travelling, shopping, dining, staying overnight, or just visiting a new place, you deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Nothing more. Nothing less.

We also set up DIVAS, an audit and advisory service for those organisations that have taken the right steps to be fully Inclusive, but need to turn good intention into applied and embedded practice.

The best way to encourage change is to reward the good. Positive strokes work better than beating someone over the head. Our goal is to spotlight organisations that are already supporting inclusion, so we can support them and help them thrive.

And when a place goes above and beyond? We will celebrate them and reward them, because great service and great values deserve recognition.

Who we are

We are a vitally human, diverse group of equals united by our unwavering commitment to Inclusion. Together we’re building a more responsible way for diverse (transgender, nonbinary, queer and intersex) people to decide where to work, shop, stay and visit.

The team so far…

Carla Ottersen

She/Her

I’m a transgender woman. I couldn’t be happier or better living my own truth in my true identity.

All my life I’ve travelled the world, working and living in many places, in many cultures and quite a few languages.

In that time I’ve led and helped many businesses to grow, and seen people realise their dreams.

I’m also about as intersectional as they come: mixed origins, multi-cultural, senior, left-handed, with mild dyslexia and PTSD. Keeps me moving.

Virginia Maine

She/Her

I’m a woman who has transitioned, and I’m very proud to be able to say that.

With a background as a biomedical scientist and as co-founder of a successful medical diagnostics company, I’ve nurtured a balance between analytical and creative thinking.

I aim to present information that is accurate, impartial, and accessible; rendering facts understandable and approachable for everyone.

I am drawn to wild, outdoor green spaces, and whenever I can, you’ll find me outdoors; ideally on or in water.
